Silver or .925 is  the modern Silver standard for jewellery. Simply put, 92.5% of the item must be made or pure, or 'fine' silver to qualify for this status and markings. Additional metals are used to make up the alloy, usually including copper. Some modern techniques offer materials with an anti tarnish finish so that the item continues to look at it's best.
